We have opened a new place space with a Yarning Circle which simply means a place to dialogue, or 'yarn', where all voices are included.
The use of a yarning circle is an important process within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture to learn from a collective group, build respectful relationships, and to preserve and pass on cultural knowledge. The concept of a yarning circle has been used by people from around the world for centuries and in our school is a space to encourage wellbeing and social emotional learning.
Our new Yarning Circle is intended to be used by all in our community members whether for class, bible study, group sessions, or meeting with community members. It is also a contemplative 'play' space for children at lunchtime.
