Academic & Music Scholarships for Year 7, 2026

Wahroonga Adventist School offers both Academic and Music Scholarships. Scholarships are open to permanent residents of Australia only.  Registration dates for Year 7, 2026 scholarship applications will be available in late 2024.

The School offers three academic scholarships that cover 50% of tuition fees. The scholarships awarded will follow through from Year 7 to Year 10. Students will have the opportunity to apply for a Year 11 and 12 Academic Scholarship when they are in Year 10. Scholarships do not cover textbooks, uniforms, excursions, technology fees, individual subject fees or co-curricular activities.

All applicants for this scholarship must register to sit the ACER examination to be held at Wahroonga Adventist School in early 2025. During registration applicants will also be asked to supply their Year 5 NAPLAN Report and Year 5 Semester 2 School Report.

Dates for scholarship applications will be available late 2024.

The School offers one music scholarship that covers 50% of tuition. The scholarship awarded is for Year 7 and 8. Students will have the opportunity to apply for a Year 9 & 10 or Year 11 & 12 Music Scholarship in the year prior to entry into that grade. Scholarships do not cover textbooks, uniforms, excursions, technology fees, individual subject fees or co-curricular activities.

All applicants for this scholarship must register to sit the ACER examination to be held at Wahroonga Adventist School in early 2025. During registration applicants will also be asked to supply their Year 5 NAPLAN Report and Year 5 Semester 2 School Report, along with a written reference from the music tutor of their preferred instrument.

Dates for scholarship applications will be available late 2024.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to audition in late Term 1.

Criteria for Selection

To be eligible, a minimum AMEB grade, or equivalent is required on one of the following instruments:

  • Woodwind or Brass Instrument: Grade 4
  • String Instrument: Grade 7
  • Piano: Grade 7
  • Percussion: Grade 4 (tuned and untuned)
  • Vocal: excellent abilities are encouraged to apply

Expectations

Scholarship recipients will be expected to:

  • Have private tuition in their chosen instrument.
  • Be involved in the co-curricular music program as follows:
    • Strings: Orchestra and String Ensemble
    • Brass/Percussion/Woodwind: Orchestra and Band
    • Vocal: Choir and Chapel Band
  • Maintain academic rigor (no late submissions).
  • Demonstrate exemplary behaviour.

Audition

Only shortlisted applicants will be invited to audition. At the audition, applicants will be asked to perform two contrasting pieces and a scale of their own choosing. Further details will be shared with the shortlisted applicants.

Financial Assistance Scholarships

Seventh-day Adventist Schools (Greater Sydney) Ltd operates a Deductible Gift Fund for its Scholarship Program. Generous funds are received from Seventh-day Adventist churches, school communities and individuals for the purpose of supporting students in Adventist Schools in Sydney. Scholarships are awarded annually to students who face financial hardship in coming to our schools, by paying their tuition fees.
