Secondary School
The Secondary years are a significant stage in a young person’s development, shaping identity, independence, character and future direction.
At Wahroonga Adventist School, students are supported to grow in confidence, deepen their learning and prepare for life beyond school within a caring Christ-centred community. As they move through Years 7 to 12, students are encouraged to take increasing ownership of their learning while continuing to feel known, supported and challenged to do their best.
Our Learning Program
Our Secondary learning program is designed to help students grow academically while also developing the habits, confidence and maturity needed for the future.
As students' progress through Secondary School, they extend and refine their learning across core subject areas while exploring a broad range of interests and pathways. From the middle years onward, students begin making more informed subject choices, helping them discover their strengths and prepare for senior study, further training and future career direction.
At Wahroonga Adventist School, learning is not only about academic achievement. Students are also encouraged to think critically, act responsibly and develop the resilience, organisation and independence that will support them well beyond school.
Our purpose is to Reveal Jesus through the daily life of our Secondary School. Students are supported to grow in faith and character through daily prayer, Bible classes, weekly chapel services, service opportunities and intentional Christlike interaction with others. As they mature, they are encouraged to consider how their choices, relationships, leadership and service can reflect compassion, integrity, respect and responsibility.

Learning Enrichment
Learning enrichment provides opportunities for students to be both supported and extended in their learning. Whether a student needs targeted support, additional guidance, or greater academic challenge, our approach is designed to help each learner continue to grow with confidence.
By knowing students well and responding to their strengths, needs and potential, we aim to create a learning environment where students feel capable, encouraged and ready to keep progressing.
Sports
Sport plays an important role in the Secondary years, contributing to student wellbeing, teamwork, confidence and school connection.
At Wahroonga Adventist School, students have opportunities to participate in weekly sport, representative sport, gala days and school carnivals as part of a balanced school experience. Students can engage in a wide range of sports while also building resilience, discipline, teamwork and a healthy sense of challenge.
Sport is one of the many ways students are encouraged to grow beyond the classroom, build friendships and engage fully in school life.
Career Pathways
As students move through Secondary School, they begin to think more seriously about their future interests, strengths and possible pathways beyond school.
From Year 8 onward, students are introduced to a broader range of subjects and begin making choices that help shape their direction through the middle and senior years. This process supports students as they discover their interests, build confidence in their strengths, and prepare for future study, training and career opportunities.
In Years 11 and 12, students are supported in making informed subject choices, with opportunities to pursue individual interests and career goals through options such as Distance Education and TVET.
Technology in Learning
Technology is used in Secondary School to support learning in purposeful and practical ways.
At Wahroonga Adventist School, digital tools help students research, create, collaborate and communicate across a range of subject areas. Technology supports both classroom learning and the development of skills that are important in further study, work and everyday life in an increasingly AI-dominated world.
This balanced approach helps students build confidence with digital tools while continuing to develop the critical thinking, communication and problem-solving skills needed for a fast-changing world.
Student safety online is also an important part of our approach. All school devices have Linewize monitoring software, which supports students in using technology safely and responsibly, helping to create a digital learning environment that protects wellbeing while encouraging positive and purposeful online behaviour.
