At Wahroonga Adventist School, our Prep program provides a gentle and purposeful introduction to school life. Within a caring, Christ-centred environment, children are supported to grow in confidence, curiosity, independence, and a sense of belonging as they begin their learning journey.
Our Learning Program
Our Prep program is designed to give children a positive and confident start to learning.
Through a balance of guided play, structured learning, exploration and social development, children begin to build the foundations they need for future success. This includes early literacy and numeracy, communication skills, confidence in routine, and the ability to learn and interact positively with others.
At this stage, learning is more than academic readiness alone. It is also about helping each child feel secure, known and encouraged as they develop independence, resilience and a love of learning.
As part of a Prep to Year 12 school, children begin their journey in a connected environment where relationships, values and continuity matter. Prep helps children become familiar with teachers, students, school routines and the broader learning environment before moving into Kindergarten, supporting a smooth and confident transition into the next stage of school life.
Our Christian ethos is intentionally included everyday into learning in Prep. Children are gently introduced to faith, prayer, Bible stories, chapel and values such as kindness, respect, compassion and care for others. In age-appropriate ways, they begin to understand what it means to know Jesus and reflect His love in the way they interact with others.
Technology in Learning
Technology is introduced thoughtfully in Prep to support learning in age-appropriate ways.
At Wahroonga Adventist School, technology is used to enhance curiosity, engagement and early skill development, while keeping the focus on active, hands-on learning and real-world interaction. In the early years, children learn best through a combination of play, conversation, discovery and guided experiences, so technology is used carefully and intentionally as one part of the broader learning environment.
This balanced approach helps children become familiar with digital tools while continuing to build the communication, social and thinking skills that are essential for strong early learning.
